Video Discussion: Smile

When you smile, an entire chemical change happens in your mind and body. Research shows that smiling can help reduce stress, improve your mood, and reduce your blood pressure. Moreover, research finds that smiling changes the perception of how other people see you. When you smile, people can perceive you to be good-looking, competent, likable, and courteous.

In the video below, Nat King Cole sings a lovely song called Smile. Here are the lyrics to read before you watch the video:

Smile though your heart is aching (suffering, in pain, hurting)
Smile even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by (manage, survive)
If you smile through your fear and sorrow (sadness)
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through for you

Light up your face with gladness (happiness)
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on (continue) trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile (important, beneficial, advantageous)
If you just smile

That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
